How did this all begin?

Oh yes, Nick offered me a slice of pizza that I never did eat and the poor slice of pie ended up forgotten in the fridge at work.  Day after day, it sat, waiting for some lone bacterium or mold spore to land on it to create a newly-found, thriving colony.

A week went by… and then two… and that’s when things finally started to get interesting.  The pizza, after 19 days looks exactly the way it did on day 1.

(Day 19, and still delicious)

In case you were wondering, this pizza is from Abo’s Pizza — a chain I have never tried myself, but I have heard good things from patrons.  However, after seeing the results of this science experiment, I don’t know if I ever will eat there afterall.

However, this did spark a few ideas…  What other foods out there can we do experiments on?  How long does it take for other slices of pizza to develop some sort of mutant twin?  What about other foods?

The experiment continues!  Stay tuned for future food science experiments: When Food Goes Bad.
